The Association of Texas Graduate Schools (ATGS), founded in 1951 in Dallas, Texas with 59 members, seeks to advance graduate study in the state of Texas by providing a forum for the discussion of ideals, aims, and problems in graduate studies faced by institutions of higher learning throughout our state. We hold regular meetings annually, at one of our member institutions, to share our experiences in our different approaches to the challenge of providing a meaningful graduate education for our students.
The aims and purposes of the Association shall be the advancement of graduate instruction by providing an opportunity for the discussion and consideration of ideals, aims, and current problems common to the graduate programs in Texas. The Association is not an accrediting agency and participation in its program is purely voluntary.
Membership in the Association is open to member institutions of the Texas Colleges/Universities conducting a graduate program, as well as System Offices of the respective universities. By graduate program is meant any form of graduate instruction leading to a degree normally recognized beyond that of the Bachelor's.
